Buddy is a fearsome monster on the hunt for a snack. When he finds a field full of frolicking bunnies, he thinks he’s found the perfect treat. The bunnies plead with Buddy to delay eating them – there’s cupcakes in the oven! Never one to turn down cupcakes, Buddy gorges himself, promising to come back tomorrow. But when he does, the bunnies want to go swimming before they are eaten, leaving Buddy too tired to feast. Then the next day, the carnival! What are these bunnies up to? Are they trying to trick Buddy… or maybe just be his friends?
This was a wonderfully whimsical story with some great jokes, and some very sweet moments too. The dialogue is tons of fun, and perfect for reading aloud (monster and bunny voices encouraged!), and there’s even a great joke in there for parents involving the bunnies’ mysteriously increasing numbers. The illustrations are cute and cartoony, filled with bright bold colors that JJ loved, and the length is just perfect. This is a great story for a good laugh and a sweet lesson in friendship: sometimes, it’s best to just kill ’em with kindness. Baby Bookworm approved!
