The Very Fluffy Kitty, Papillon (A. N. Kang)

Hello, everybody! Today, we read The Very Fluffy Kitty, Papillon by A. N. Kang, a funny and charming fable about a lighter-than-air kitty.

Papillon is a big kitty: not fat, but very fluffy. In fact, he is so fluffy, he will float right up in the air if something is not tethering him down. One day, when he has refused to wear one of his special hats that keep him weighed down, he follows a red bird right out the window and into the wide world! It’s fun at first, but then becomes a little scary, especially when Papillon realizes he doesn’t know his way home! How will he ever get back?

This was a great little fantasy with a real-world message. Papillon’s floating fluffiness makes for some adorable fun, but I liked that it was also a story about not wandering off, staying calm when you realize you are lost, and that the world can be a lot less scary with a good friend by your side. The illustrations are positively precious, and Papillon and his adventures are a delight for both the eyes and ears. The length is just fine, and JJ really liked this one, especially the art. This was a really fun, really different book, and we enjoyed it quite a bit. Baby Bookworm approved!
